Sexual Assault Charge Laid Against HMCS Brunswicker Reservist

Today, the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service charged a member of the Canadian Armed Forces with sexual assault June 20th under the Criminal Code as well as a related offence under the National Defence Act. The charges relate to a reported incident involving another member of the Canadian Armed Forces at HMCS Brunswicker, a Naval Reserve Division in Saint John, New Brunswick, in December 2017.

Leading Seaman Nicholas Mitchell, a Reserve Force member of HMCS Brunswicker, a Naval Reserve Division in Saint John, New Brunswick, faces one count of Sexual Assault under section 271 of the Criminal Code, punishable under section 130 of the National Defence Act; and one count of Disgraceful Conduct, punishable under section 93 of the National Defence Act.
