I could not be more pleased that the Government of Canada has unveiled the team that will design and deliver the Canadian Surface Combatants (CSC) which will become the backbone of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) for the next several decades.
The implications for the Department of National Defence, Canadian Armed Forces and our Navy are wide-sweeping and we have already begun to take the necessary steps across the institution to ensure we leverage the technology and innovation that will be built into these extremely capable platforms.
The RCN is postured to fulsomely support the CSC Project with a view to completing design work appropriately and expeditiously. The RCN looks forward to collaborating with the team from Irving Shipbuilding Inc. (ISI), Lockheed Martin Canada, and BAE Systems in order to deliver these tremendously capable warships to our sailors – who will go on to deliver outstanding effects in these warships at home and around the globe as directed by the Government of Canada.
Bravo Zulu to the exceptionally large team of dedicated individuals across Defence, the Canadian Forces and our fellow government departments and industry who have worked tirelessly over the last several years and who have contributed to this historic day.
