October 7, 2019 – More than 4,500 military personnel from eighteen countries take part from today until the 18th in the exercise of NATO Dynamic Mariner / Flotex-19, which aims to prepare to respond to the crisis situations in the maritime field that the Atlantic Alliance needs .
This training, in which 26 surface vessels, two submarines and 21 aircraft from 12 countries will participate, will take place mainly in waters near the Spanish south coast.
In addition, the Dynamic Mariner / Flotex-19 exercise will be part of the process to certify the High Availability Maritime Headquarters of the Spanish Navy as Naval Command of the NATO Rapid Reaction Force before its activation during the next year 2020.
Spain, as the host country, provides the largest amount of media to the exercise, with 2,700 military and 16 ships. The remaining participating nations are Albania, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, United States, France, Greece, Holland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Romania and Turkey.
Part of the vessels participating in this exercise are currently integrated into NATO Permanent Naval Groups SNMG1 and SNMG2.
Regarding the type of training, it is expected that specific exercises will be carried out in certain areas such as air operations, anti-submarine, surface and anti-air warfare, measures against mines, as well as amphibious and force protection operations.
