October 8, 2019 – The first Airbus C295, purchased by the Government of Canada for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Fixed Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft Replacement (FWSAR) program, rolled out of the paint shop showing off its final livery at Airbus facility in Seville, Spain. July 5, 2019 – The first Airbus C295, purchased by the Government of Canada for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Fixed Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft Replacement (FWSAR) program, has completed its maiden flight, marking a key milestone towards delivery by the end of 2019 to begin operational testing by the RCAF. Israel Aerospace industries (IAI) was recently awarded a new contract by Airbus Defense & Space to supply 16 ELM-2022A maritime patrol radars. The Government of Canada is purchasing 16 C295 MSA aircraft from Airbus Defense equipped with advanced sensor systems to support Canada’s Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.
