NATO ships start missile defence drill off Scotland

May 8, 2019 – Ships from nine NATO countries are taking part in live-fire air and missile defence drills off the coast of Scotland from Tuesday (7 May 2019). HMCS St. John’s crews recognized for exceptional service

May 7, 2019 – The Chief of the Defence Staff General Jonathan Vance recognized two crews of HMCS St. John’s on April 4 for their exceptional service and performance during 2017. The Canadian Forces Unit Commendation is a group award created to recognize distinguished service by a military unit. HMCS Ville de Quebec deploys with Cyclone helicopter

HMCS Ville de Quebec departed Halifax July 18th, the same day the ship she is supposedly relieving, arrives in St John’s, for Operation REASSURANCE. This mission also marks the first operational deployment of a CH-148 Cyclone helicopter, which at last report will not be combat ready until 2023, year 48 of the Sea King replacement program. NATO Naval Force exercises with the Polish Navy in the Baltic Sea

Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) is conducting several days of naval exercises with the Polish Navy in the Baltic Sea this week. SNMG1 routinely patrols in the Baltic Sea providing regular opportunities to enhance interoperability among Allies.
