HMCS Ville de Quebec deploys with Cyclone helicopter

HMCS Ville de Quebec departed Halifax July 18th, the same day the ship she is supposedly relieving, arrives in St John’s, for Operation REASSURANCE. This mission also marks the first operational deployment of a CH-148 Cyclone helicopter, which at last report will not be combat ready until 2023, year 48 of the Sea King replacement program. NATO Naval Force exercises with the Polish Navy in the Baltic Sea

Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) is conducting several days of naval exercises with the Polish Navy in the Baltic Sea this week. SNMG1 routinely patrols in the Baltic Sea providing regular opportunities to enhance interoperability among Allies. HMCS Charlottetown Returns to Halifax January 19th

HMCS Charlottetown is being replaced by HMCS St. John’s as part of the Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1). Charlottetown joined SNMG1 in August 2017, sailing in the Baltic Sea, Northern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. She participated in two major exercises: Exercise NORTHERN COAST 17 in the Baltic Sea and Exercise BRILLIANT MARINER 17 in the Mediterranean Sea. These exercises further strengthened the Allied nations’ abilities to combine international assets in order to effectively conduct combined maritime operations.
