Major Contract for Protecteur Class Announced

October 2, 2018 – Seaspan Shipyards (Seaspan) has awarded Hawboldt Industries (Hawboldt) of Chester, Nova Scotia, two contracts for a total value of $8M for work on Canada’s new Protecteur Class supply ships. This is one of several expected to be announced for Canadian suppliers supporting Seaspan’s work on naval supply ships under the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). Launch of the First Large Vessel Designed and Built Under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy

Seaspan Shipyards today celebrated the launch of the first large vessel to be designed and built under the Government of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) – CCGS Sir John Franklin, the first of three Offshore Fisheries Science Vessels (OFSV) December 8th. In 2011, the Government of Canada competitively selected Seaspan to be its Non-Combat Shipbuilder as part of the NSS program.
