QinetiQ emulates drone threat for Royal Canadian Navy

QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) has introduced a new service to the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) by emulating the threat posed to large naval vessels by small multi-rotor drones. The live demonstration was carried out in early November 2017 from a Halifax-class frigate under the C$8.5M Unmanned Targets Repair, Overhaul and Engineering contract, awarded to QTS in 2015. Royal Canadian Navy orders over 40 Hammerhead targets

The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) has placed a C$4.7m order with QinetiQ Target Systems for over 40 Hammerhead Unmanned Surface Vehicle Targets and various payloads. The order was placed under an existing five-year, C$35m framework contract with the Canadian Department of National Defence, awarded in May 2016, for provision of surface and aerial target systems.
