June 12, 2019 – Vice-Admiral Art McDonald assumed the duties of Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) from Vice-Admiral Ron Lloyd this afternoon in a formal change of command ceremony presided over by General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff. Sixth AOPS Ordered

November 2, 2018 – The Minister of National Defense announced that the Royal Canadian Navy will receive a sixth patrol ship, which will help sustain hundreds of highly-skilled middle class jobs at Irving shipyards heading into an election year.
