Japanese announcement
1. On December 16, the 14th Japan-Canada Military-to-Military (MM) Consultation was held in Tokyo.
2. The talks were attended by Mr. Takanori Arima, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence on the Japanese side, and Mr. Greg Smith, Director General of the Bureau of International Security Policy, Ministry of Defence on the Canadian side.
3. In recent years, Canada has been strengthening its engagement in the Indo-Pacific region, and cooperation between Japan and Canada in the region is becoming increasingly important. The two sides exchanged views on the regional situation and the defense policies of both countries, as well as deepening discussions on future Japan-Canada defense cooperation and exchanges.
