Davie Shipyard Canada Inc. (Davie) announced the signing of an agreement with Construction Dinamo Inc. (Dinamo), a leader in the Quebec construction industry. This move follows Davie’s recent decision to change its construction strategy to better meet the requirements of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) and seize opportunities offered by the Icebreaker Collaboration Initiative (ICE Pact). The agreement will cover the provision of construction and supervision services for key sub-projects as part of the major modernization of Davie’s Lévis shipyard.
The collaboration with Dinamo complements Davie’s agreement with Pearlson & Pearlson Inc., also announced today, establishing the second pillar of Davie’s construction strategy and reinforcing the collective commitment to transform the Lévis facility into the most versatile and advanced shipbuilding hub in North America. Together, these partnerships will deliver critical infrastructure improvements in line with Canada’s NSS, while strengthening active participation in the ICE Pact.
“Dinamo’s construction expertise will be essential to realizing our vision for the future of shipbuilding in Quebec and Canada,” said James Davies, President and CEO of Davie.
The modernization plan, supported by the new strategy, includes the construction of six state-of-the-art buildings, renovations to existing structures, major waterfront improvements and the installation of cutting-edge technologies. Dinamo will oversee the critical construction elements of this initiative, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of the new fleet of vessels to Canada. “We are honoured to partner with Davie on this groundbreaking initiative,” said Jean-Yves Morisette, President and CEO of Dinamo. “Our experience and shared commitment to excellence will ensure the success of Davie’s ambitious modernization program.”
The agreement with Dinamo underscores Davie’s commitment to investing in Quebec’s expertise and fostering partnerships that strengthen Canada’s sovereign shipbuilding capabilities. Combined with the support of the Government of Quebec and strategic international collaborations, the project positions Davie as a world leader in the construction of ice-capable vessels.
