April 22, 2021 – Rosborough Boats is expanding its product and service offerings to provide complete design, tooling and build of custom and production Composite Components for the Defence, Aerospace and Ocean Tech industries.
In 2018 Rosborough re-opened its Composites Manufacturing facility on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia as a result of the contract awarded by Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI) under the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) to build twelve (12) Multi-Role Rescue Boats for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessels (AOPS). The builder will not disclose the type of craft they’re to provide.
This new venture is a blend of adding new talent combined with our knowledge and skills gained from over 40 years in designing and manufacturing composite vessels for use in the North Atlantic’s harsh marine environment.
Graham Peters, who joined Rosborough after 15 years in the offshore oil industry, has been tasked with running the newly re-opened facility and has expanded our engineering team through a partnership with Blumara.
Rosborough’s first project is with GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. to design and manufacture the tooling and final production pieces for an acoustically transparent hull mounted sonar dome for an international navy.
Rosborough’s Professional Series and Recreational vessels will still be manufactured at the Eastern Shore facility, transferring more of the assembly work to Rosborough’s Systems Integration shop located in Beechville, NS.
In complement to the new projects, Rosborough is investing in new equipment to aid in advanced manufacturing as well as R&D into Bio-Based resins and the application of recycled materials in engineered composites.
