Russian fleet monitors NATO exercises launched in Baltic Sea

June 8, 2020 – Radio SputnikThe Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation is closely monitoring the exercises of NATO countries Baltops-2020, the Russian National Defense Management Center said on Monday.

“The forces and means of the Baltic Fleet watched the exercises the US Navy and European countries Baltops-2020 held from 7 to 19 June in the waters of the southern and central parts of the Baltic Sea” – said in a release, reports RIA Novosti.

The annual Baltops exercise kicked off on Sunday and runs through June 16th. Naval exercises have been held since 1972, this year Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and US .

Earlier, Sputnik Radio reported that the Estonian Navy involved Baltops 2020 in NATO exercises .
